Sziget Festival 2025 Interview: QUEENZ, United Kingdom

The Queenz from United Kingdom have been dazzling, twirling, and serving looks since 2022! The divas have produced two different productions of the show so far with many more ideas up their sleeve and they love to keep the people GAGGING!

What is your daily routine like before a performance?
It's a process, darling, it's a transformation! Wigs are styled, lashes are stacked, makeup is spectacular and the outfit gets a final bedazzling. By the time we hit the stage, we have already done a days work!

How long does it take to put together a production?
Listen, Rome wasn't built in a day, and neither is a full drag girl group! Some productions take months, even years. Between choreo, costumes, and making sure every queen knows when to hit her mark (because some of these divas love a freestyle moment), it's a lot.

How do you choose your costumes and equipment, and where do you get them from?
If it sparkles, shines, and makes me feel like a superstar, we WANT IT! All of our pieces are custom-made and designed. They are simply spectacular.

What was the biggest mistake during a performance?
Oh, honey, one time my dress got stuck on a peice of set and I had to make sure the precious cape didnt rip. Thankfully, I played it off so well that the audience thought it was part of the act.

What makes your professional life difficult?
High heels, honey. High. Heels. You ever try dancing in six-inch stilettos for hours? My feet are in a constant state of betrayal. Also, glitter. It NEVER leaves. I'll be finding it for weeks!

What is the most attractive thing about your professional life?
The glamour, the energy, and the applause! There is NOTHING like stepping onto that stage, feeling the love, and knowing you just gave people a night they'll never forget.

How do you get along with each other?
We're a big, dysfunctional, fabulous family. There's drama, there's shade, but at the end of the day, we love each other. Queenz is all about love, and thats on and off satge.

Is the team permanent, or do members change, leave, arrive?
It's a revolving door of fabulousness! Some queens come, some queens go, but the show always goes on. And new energy keeps things fresh and exciting!

What is the secret of your success, and why do you think the audience is interested in what you do?
The secret? Confidence, charisma, and a WHOLE lot of talent! The audience comes because we give them an escape—a world where glamour, joy, and self-expression reign supreme. And trust me, darling, once they've seen us, they always come back for more!
