Interview: DELADAP on ZamJam

DELADAP, operating under the Austrian sign and existing since 2004, has its center in Vienna, and the majority of members come from the territory of the old Austrian Monarchy and neighboring countries. The name DELADAP means "Give me the rhythm", which is also the name of the ideology that conveys mainly electro-swing style features. The founder Stani Vana was born in Prague, several members and musicians of the band are Hungarian, the current front singer is Austrian. The formation spices up modern, progressive jazz music either with traditional Romani musical motifs or with the currently trendy swing. Continuous renewal, the mixing of different cultures and influences, which always results in something interesting, is important to them.

Last year, Deladap played at the Paloznak Jazz Picnic on July 30, this year again at 07.30. you will perform at the ZamJam festival at Lake Balaton in Zamárdi. What will be similar and what is different about this year's concert?

After Deladap played JazzPiknik, a new album was released: "Play". Album Play was very successful for Deladap and this year 2022 on the exact day that Deladap plays at Jazzam am Balaton this album Play will be released in Japan. Compared to last year, we will play all successful songs from the Play album live at JazZam.

How many songs will you play now?

We will play 15 songs.

On what basis do you choose your stage clothes?

Dress code is defined by our front singer Christina Kerschner and the musicians adapt to their style.

Is there a favorite item of clothing, color or style among them?

Blazer and tie, dark blue, neo-retro.

What kind of clothes would you wear as a visitor/audience to ZamJam?

Colorful light summer clothing with sun hat.

Will you only be present during the performance, or will you be looking around the festival?

We would see as much of the lineup as possible and stay a day or two longer.

Your new music video Something Serious was released a few days ago. How did you come up with the idea for the visuals of the clip?

I've wanted to do a Rock'n'Roll song mixed with swing for a long time. With a friend of mine I cut up an old car Cadillac de Vil and hired a Rock'n'Roll singer. Then, with Melinda Stoika and Wolfgang Lohr, I produced the song Something Serious, which with half Cadillac, half Elvis and half Rock'n'Roll creates a whole swing.

What trends do you feel in music now, what kind of sound do you strive for?

A very exciting topic for me is the mix of electronic swing and EDM and we call the mix future swing. (Stani Vana)
